Facility Description
We are a dedicated research facility with well equipped patient examination rooms. Our patient waiting area is well-lighted and comfortable. Our laboratory room is clean, neat, and well equipped with a phlebotomy station, huge laboratory processing space, centrifuge and much more. Our drug cabinet is kept locked in a secure area with limited access. Our study supplies are also kept in this limited access area as well as a lockable refrigerator and lockable freezer. There are three private spacious monitoring rooms with all office supplies provided for our monitors. High-Speed Internet access is readily available for electronic data transfer and monitoring needs, and a dedicated data line. We have a huge, secure, and fire-retardant document storage area, as well as on-site Regulatory and Accounting functions for easy centralized management.
Our facility is centrally located in Houston, Texas with easy access to all major freeways and airports. It is about 30 minutes from William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) and approximately 40 minutes from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). There are several affordable 4 star hotels in the area.

Marializa V. Bernardo, MD

Principal Investigator, Southwest Houston Research, LTD.
Marializa V. Bernardo, MD, is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology; she is board-eligible in Interventional Nephrology. She earned her medical degree at University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Bernardo did a fellowship in Nephrology and Transplantation at Baylor College of Medicine. She is currently one of seven partners in a flourishing Nephrology practice and a Medical Director/Co-Medical Director of three dialysis units and a Vascular Access Center.
Dr. Bernardo has authored and coauthored several articles in peer-reviewed journals and given presentations at the National Kidney Foundation Meeting. She is a member of the Renal Physicians Association, National Kidney Foundation, and American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology. She has received the Henry Christian Award of Excellence in Research. Dr. Bernardo is the lead investigator in over 20 clinical trials.

Felicia Chidolue, RN, MSN, FNP-C

Felicia Chidolue is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing from the highly credited Texas Woman’s University. She is a member of both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American Nephrology Nurses Association. She has coordinated over 25 clinical trials. She also has a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications.
Staff Expertise
Our staff is dedicated to providing a top-notch experience to both our patients and sponsors. Southwest Houston Research, LTD. is a strong site with over 10 years combined research experience invested by its staff. Our staff is trained in FDA, SOPs, GCPs, ICH and HIPAA guidelines. Our staff is IATA certified for shipping and handling of hazardous materials and dry ice shipments. We have a bilingual assistant coordinator. We have experience working with both electronic-CRFs and traditional CRFs.
